Controlled overhead heat + air/humidity monitoring + surface temperature checks.

This kit is designed for the heat control and monitoring part of a corn snake setup. It does not include a heat mat, enclosure, substrate, hides, décor, food, water dish, UVB lighting, or live animal.

Starter Kit Overview

A practical starter system for controlled overhead heat, air and humidity monitoring, and surface temperature checks in a beginner corn snake enclosure. The kit focuses on creating and verifying a warm-side heating zone while allowing the final setup to be adjusted for enclosure size, ventilation, room conditions, and hide placement.

At a Glance

• Controlled overhead heat

• Air temperature and humidity monitoring

• Surface temperature checks

• Beginner-friendly heat-control system

• US Plug / 110–130V

Why Buy This as a Kit?

The kit combines overhead heat with both enclosure-condition monitoring and surface temperature checks, giving beginners a clearer way to build and verify a warm-side heating zone.

What This Kit Does Not Include

This is not a complete habitat kit. It does not include a heat mat, enclosure, substrate, hides, décor, food, water dish, UVB lighting, live animal, or other enclosure furnishings.

What’s Included

• 35W PAR30 Halogen Heat Bulb

• E27 Deep-Dome Lamp Holder

• Black Digital Thermometer-Hygrometer with Remote Probe

• Infrared Surface Thermometer

How It Works

The overhead halogen lamp provides a defined warm-side heat source. The digital thermometer-hygrometer helps monitor enclosure air conditions, while the infrared thermometer allows surface temperature checks around the warm zone, hides, and surrounding enclosure areas.

Who This Kit Is For

Designed for beginner corn snake keepers who want a simple starting system for overhead heat and environmental monitoring without using a heat mat.

Beginner Setup Mistakes

Helps reduce common beginner errors such as relying on a single temperature reading, using heat without checking actual surface temperatures, or assuming one fixed heat setting will work for every enclosure.

Setup Guide

1. Position the overhead heat source Install the deep-dome lamp above one end of the enclosure to establish a warm-side heating zone.

2. Arrange the warm and cool areas Position hides and enclosure furnishings so the snake can move between warmer and cooler areas.

3. Place the digital monitoring sensor Use the thermometer-hygrometer and remote probe to monitor enclosure air conditions in a useful representative location.

4. Check surface temperatures Use the infrared thermometer to check surfaces around the warm zone, hides, and nearby enclosure areas.

5. Allow the enclosure to stabilize Run the system and observe measured conditions before making final adjustments.

6. Adjust the setup as needed Fine-tune heat placement and enclosure conditions based on actual readings and species-appropriate care guidance.

Important Setup Notes

• This kit is built around controlled overhead heat and does not include a heat mat.

• Bulb wattage alone does not determine enclosure temperature; room conditions, enclosure size, ventilation, and lamp placement all affect the final result.

• Use both air-condition monitoring and surface checks rather than relying on a single reading.

• Ensure the snake cannot directly contact hot bulbs or unsafe heated hardware.

• UVB lighting is not included.

• US Plug / 110–130V only.

Component Details

35W PAR30 Halogen Heat Bulb Provides controlled overhead heat for creating a warm-side heating zone.

E27 Deep-Dome Lamp Holder Houses and directs the heat bulb over the selected warm-side area.

Black Digital Thermometer-Hygrometer with Remote Probe Supports monitoring of enclosure air temperature and humidity.

Infrared Surface Thermometer Allows non-contact checks of surface temperatures throughout the enclosure.

What Else You’ll Need

This starter kit does not create a complete habitat. You will still need items such as:

• An appropriately sized enclosure

• Substrate

• Warm-side and cool-side hides

• Water dish

 • Décor and enrichment

• Food

• Secure enclosure furnishings

• UVB lighting, if chosen based on species-specific care guidance

• Other species-appropriate care supplies

Safety & Care

• Secure the overhead lamp so it cannot fall into the enclosure or be contacted directly by the snake.

• Make sure the animal cannot reach hot bulbs, sockets, or unsafe heated hardware. Use appropriate barriers or fixture placement where required.

• Keep electrical components and cords dry and inspect them regularly for damage, loose connections, or excessive heat.

• Do not use bulb wattage alone to determine safe enclosure temperatures. Verify actual air and surface conditions after the enclosure has stabilized.

• Check surfaces around the warm area and hides with the infrared thermometer in addition to monitoring enclosure air conditions.

• Recheck conditions when room temperature, ventilation, enclosure size, lamp position, substrate, or furnishings change.

• This system is designed around overhead heating and does not include a heat mat. • Ensure the enclosure remains secure and escape-resistant after installing heating and monitoring equipment.

• This version is intended for US Plug / 110–130V electrical systems.

• ReptiCore setup information is intended to support practical habitat setup and does not replace qualified veterinary advice or appropriate species-specific husbandry research.

FAQ

Is this a complete corn snake habitat kit?

No. This starter kit focuses on overhead heat and environmental monitoring. The enclosure, substrate, hides, water dish, décor, food, UVB lighting, and other habitat furnishings are sold separately.

Does this kit include a heat mat?

No. This kit is designed around controlled overhead heating and does not include an under-tank heat mat.

What is the digital thermometer-hygrometer used for?

It helps monitor enclosure air temperature and humidity, with the remote probe allowing readings from a selected enclosure location.

Why is an infrared thermometer included?

It allows you to check actual surface temperatures around the warm zone, hides, and other parts of the enclosure without relying only on air-temperature readings.

Can I determine the correct setup from the 35W bulb rating alone?

No. The final temperature depends on enclosure size, ventilation, room conditions, lamp position, substrate, and other factors. Always verify actual conditions.

Does this kit include UVB lighting?

No. UVB lighting is not included. If UVB is used, it should be selected and positioned according to appropriate corn snake husbandry guidance.

What voltage is this kit designed for?

This version is intended for US Plug / 110–130V electrical systems.
